Roles & Responsibilities
Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards in the workplace and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate risks.
Regularly review working conditions and work with line managers to correct non-compliance and realize opportunities for improvement.
Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements.
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that the organization complies with health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards (or other local regulations). Collaborate with third-party auditors to ensure all audits are conducted properly and on-time and all licenses are up to date (OSH, NEMA, fire safety, planning)
Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents or incidents to determine their causes and recommend preventive measures.
Ensure all incidents are lodged with the relevant ministry and follow up with WIBA for closure
Training and Education: Organize health and safety training programs for staff and managers on workplace practices, emergency procedures, and use of equipment.
Audit and Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure adherence to safety standards.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of workplace incidents, training sessions, and inspections.
Emergency Response: Prepare and implement emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
Liaison with Authorities: Coordinate with government and regulatory agencies regarding health and safety compliance and inspections.
Skills and qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is often required.
Previous experience working in a similar role in a company with high standards of occupational health and safety in the manufacturing sector.
Health and safety certification is required.
Strong working knowledge of occupational and environmental regulations and risks
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong ability to lead and influence others
