Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Governance

Supervise and monitor all clinical officers to ensure duties are run swiftly.
Ensure optimal standards of clinical care comply with national guidelines as well as organization policies.
Prepare and share the departmental duty roster to clinical staffs, administrators and human resource officer promptly before the end of every month.
Monitoring of staff performance as per their set objectives.
Evaluation and appraisal of staff through the company Performance Management.
Participate in induction and Orientation of new clinical officers.
Participate and Chair monthly departmental meetings.
Prepare and share departmental performance reports on weekly and monthly basis.
Lead the team in implementation of Clinical department annual work plan.
Delegation and assign duties to staff who can perform the assignments.
Lead and participate in conflict resolution in the department.
Ensure departmental compliance to the Code of Conduct.

Quality

Ensuring high quality of patient care by conducting regular quality of care assessments of the department and implementing recommendations.
Supporting the rollout of the Safer Better Healthcare Standards in the Department.
Overseeing infection control activities for clinical, ensuring that adequate and appropriate corrective measures are implemented as soon as any gaps are noted or reported.

Service Delivery

Ensure proper history taking, examination, diagnosis, ordering and interpreting laboratory and imaging investigations to clients
Implementing community health care activities in liaison with other health workers.
Sensitizing patients on preventive and promotive health.
Assist and work together with other departments to ensure provision of quality care to patients.
Maintain patient confidentiality
Carry out ward round orders and orders of consulting internal and external specialists.
Perform clinical procedures within the rules and regulations consistent with organization procedures and medical practice.
Perform quick evaluation for patients and advice on referral cases 
Implement and supervise all the infection prevention and control procedures in the department
Participate in Clinical audits or any other hospital audit as required.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Clinical medicine and surgery from a recognized institution.
Certificate of Registration from clinical officers’ council.
Valid Practicing License from clinical officer council in Kenya.
Certificate in computer applications
At least 4-6years of working experience in a busy hospital environment.
Experience in management of health staff in health facilities
Good leadership and communication skills.
