Develop and implement fertilization programs tailored to different crop needs.
Undertake grafting techniques to enhance plant quality and yield.
Choose high-quality seeds for various crops based on desired traits and performance.
Plan and execute precise sowing schedules for optimal germination and growth.
Monitor and control environmental conditions to ensure high germination rates.
Efficiently manage the transplanting process to minimize plant stress and mortality.
Implement pruning techniques to promote healthy growth and productivity
Identify and select healthy scions for grafting.
Prepare rootstocks to ensure successful grafting.
Provide appropriate care to grafted plants to ensure successful union and growth
Develop and apply fertilization plans tailored to the nutritional needs of different crops.
Accurately identify pests and diseases affecting crops while applying appropriate control measures to manage pest and disease issues effectively.
Plan and manage crop production schedules to meet market demands.
To ensure that the quantity and quality of seedlings are produced to meet the requirements of the farm/s
To ensure that all plant husbandries including spray programs within the scope of the nursery are performed to the highest standard.
Monitor and ensure the production of healthy, high-quality seedlings.
Supervise and coordinate nursery staff, ensuring efficient and productive operations and that all staff achieves the recommended daily tasks.
Participate, coordinate, and manage all activities that fall in the domain of the spray department.
Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Veg Nursery Manager.
To ensure the nursery operations adhere to customer standards
Your profile
Degree in Horticulture/ Agriculture or a related field.
Over 5 years of direct hands-on experience in managing nurseries, particularly in vegetable production, with a focus on grafting, transplanting, and plant husbandry.
Any relevant certification that showcases proficiency in managing nursery operations.
Proven experience in identifying and controlling pests and diseases in crops, including the application of pesticides and other control measures.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fertilization plans tailored to the specific nutritional needs of different crops.
Expertise in grafting and pruning techniques to enhance plant quality and yield.
Strong skills in planning and managing crop production schedules to meet market demands, including transplanting, and maintaining plant health.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse agricultural environment.
Ability to identify issues within the nursery, such as pest outbreaks or grafting failures, and develop effective solutions.
Strong reporting skills to prepare and submit detailed monthly reports
