Greensteds School is situated 140 km north of Nairobi, in the heart of Kenya’s Rift Valley and within ten minutes’ drive of Lake Nakuru National Park. The School is set in a rural, secluded, 50-acre site and is one of the leading International boarding schools in Kenya serving internationally minded families, from all over the world.

About the job
The Head of Junior School will also be the Head of Pastoral Care for the whole school. The Head of Junior School has responsibility for the management of the Junior School, including the Early Years School situated within the compound. He/She also plays a key role as part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Headmaster

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Teaching qualification(primary)
Qualified Teacher Status(QTS)
Evidence of further professional development 
IAPS Member Head/Deputy Head

Knowledge and experience

Strong and evident pastoral leadership Experience of leading on, or supporting the
leadership of, Safeguarding in school Working strategically as a Senior Management Team (SMT) Member
Progressive experience in leadership positions
Primary School teaching experience Experience in working in a school in an international content
Experience of working with data Experience of working with data in a growing school
Understanding the characteristics of effective teaching and learning strategies to raise student attainment
Experience in school self-review and evaluation
Sound understanding of school leadership issues and inspection experience
Experience in school policies review
A demonstrable record of excellent classroom practice
Experience in a boarding school
Experience of leading staff development sessions and supporting staff
Ability to lead successful school-wide initiatives, developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, mentoring and guidance
Sympathetic to Christian principles as foundation blocks of a values-based education
Experience of supporting and developing students with a wide range of educational needs
Committed to continual professional development for themselves and their staff

Applicants must have experience in a Senior Leadership position, a Bachelor’s Degree in an academic subject, a teaching qualification and experience in teaching the British Curriculum. Experience of working in an I.A.P.S school would be an advantage.
The willingness to take a full and active part in all aspects of a thriving and progressive school is vital, including the ability to coach team sports and/or take an active part in the wider co-curricular programme.
