The Interior Designer will lead the visual merchandising team to create functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by assessing space requirements, determining optimal furniture placement, and selecting decorative items, all while adhering to relevant blueprint, building code, and inspection requirements. They will use their delivery perspective to bring new approaches to design process and strategy, develop next-generation talent, and help our clients redefine their product and themselves.
Responsibilities and duties:
Changing displays to promote new product launches or to reflect festive or seasonal themes.
Lead the creative interiors efforts on developing overall design concepts and design presentation strategies. This individual is key to managing existing client relationships and developing new ones.
Ensuring uniformity of displays across multiple store locations.
Conduct market surveys to understand the latest trends.
Merchandise and take corrective measures whenever required – physical changes and educating the supervisor / staff on the retail floor.
Convey right merchandising patterns to the sales team.
Display merchandise for better visual appeal and explaining the utility.
Merchandise showrooms on change of new product introductions.
Communicate with marketing team to establish strategies and design concepts for seasonal product launches and displays.
Monitor and account for the time and manpower required to build and stock store displays and communicate this information with management.
Coordinate with category buyers to understand the theme of the merchandise.
Work with the Retail Manager in brand positioning within the showrooms.
Offer suggestions for improved product mix to generate / improve sales.
When required, assist in carrying out regular stock takes.
Monitor the overall store presentation to ensure it is always of the highest standards.
Train and mentor, the visual merchandising team ensuring they are implementing the required standards in the showrooms.
Manage the performance of the visual merchandising team.
Skills and background:
Essential skills:
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
Strong visual design skills including proportion and aesthetics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Basic understanding of building codes and inspection regulations related to interiors.
International experience / working with international retailer is desired.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, visual merchandising, fashion merchandising, exhibition design, visual communications or related field required; coursework in computer-aided design (CAD) highly preferred.
Interior design certification highly preferred.
At least 7-10 years of related experience required.
