Head of Export

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing and coordinating day to day operations of the export department
Having the full P&L responsibility of the department
Ensuring that the customer service is attending the needs of the clients in a timely manner and advising the client on time and pro-actively on all export documentation requirements 
Supervise the customer service team to ensure performance targets are met to achieve customer satisfaction
Interact with clients to ensure customer satisfaction
Approving supplier and third-party invoices and to ensure these are in line with rates and tariffs
Managing the relationship with relevant authorities and stakeholders (KPA, KRA, transporters, shipping lines etc.) regarding the companies export activities
Ensuring the bond usage for the export department is handled properly and in compliance with the authorities, no disruption of the operations and that no penalty has to be paid
To ensure that all operational systems are updated in time, correctly, and complete
Liaising with border stations to ensure no delays are occurring and proactively address problems and / or impact of new regulations and procedures.
Identify training needs for the department and develop a succession plan for exports department together with the Human Resources department
To review all departmental procedures to ensure that all SOPs are up to date
Setting of departmental KPIs, and KPIs for all members of staff of the export department
Preparing monthly departmental reports to management
Participating in the annual budget process
Report in a timely manner to the Managing Director all new relevant points in terms of profitability, activity performance 
Ensure full compliance with the Medlog group policies and procedures 

Requirements 

The ideal candidate for this position is a detail-oriented Manager and has strong leading abilities and a quantitative background. In addition to these skills, he/she must also be great communicator to work with, to achieve the goal of increasing productivity of the department.
It is required, that the candidate has a strong experience in the role, preferably in an international and cooperate environment.  
10 years of work experience, and a min. of 5 years as a senior manager in a logistics company 
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, custom logistics or related field
Fluent in English

Sense of initiative and entrepreneurial spirit
Adaptability and curiosity
Drive continuous improvement
Experience in an international environment and logistics is a plus
Good knowledge of the usage of an operational software 
Proficient in the use of MS Office and experience with inventory management software
Strong analytical skills
