GSE Technician

About the job
Reporting to the Senior Technician GSE Workshop, the ideal candidate will be required to service, maintain and repair Ground Handling Support Equipment for service delivery in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Policies and Procedures:

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, processes, procedures, organization standards and local procedures is achieved so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Safety, Quality & Environment:

Embrace a positive safety culture, healthy, secure and cost-effective operations for Kenya Airways and ensure compliance with the relevant industry / legislative requirements and company procedures.
Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and accidents.

Day-to-Day Operations:

Service maintain and repair GH equipment and facilities for effective service delivery in a cost-effective manner.
Assess defects on GSE and facilities, perform root cause analysis and carry out corrective measures.
Effectively respond to GSE emergency break downs for timely service deliver and avoid A/C delays
Carry out repairs, overhauls and modifications on major equipment components which include engines, Gear boxes, and transmission systems, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Identify and requisition materials for the task at hand to ensure timely release and availability of GSE and motor-vehicles for ground operations.
Document and maintain records of all maintenance activities & equipment history.
Offer quality workmanship on all GH equipment and motor vehicles to enhance safety & project the organization’s image positively.
Adhere to KQ WAY principals and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Mechatronic / Plant Engineering, or related discipline with 3 years relevant experience.

OR

Technician II, Craft certificate II or Government Trade Test I in Automotive Mechanic/Electrician/Welder or related discipline with 5 years relevant experience.
Experience in Automotive / Heavy diesel / Mobile plant environment.
Experience in computerised, PLC Repairs.
Good knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical circuits and IC engines.
Good diagnostic skills and ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic and other engineering diagrams.
Specialized Equipment Care and Maintenance (Tractors, Forklifts, Motor vehicles, Tow tractors, High Loaders and buses).
Good knowledge of World Class Operation principles.
Safety Management System (SMS) Awareness.
Aviation Security Awareness.
Airside Safety Awareness.
Hydraulic and Lubrication Principles.
Enterprise asset management.
Specialized/Welding; Mig, Tig, CL, SS and other alloys.
Hazmat and First Aid Trainings.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks without compromising quality.
Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
