Grant Writer/ Development Manager

Job Purpose

We are looking for a proven and passionate writer who will write clear, organized and compelling concept notes and proposals. You will apply your knowledge and experience of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals. You will collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with fundraising projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders. You will also manage some of the organization’s grants’ portfolio which include constant communications with donors for specific grants.
The success in this role is dependent on the position holder possessing excellent research skills, ability to write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods and be committed to ANAW’s mission. The candidate must be deadline – driven, a team player and with outstanding multitasking abilities.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for researching and developing a portfolio of donors.
Identifying grant funding opportunities.
Collect inputs from relevant teams and synthesizes technical information to concept notes and proposals.
Responsible for identifying, planning, writing, preparing and presenting grant proposals and accompanying materials (including budgets and timelines), as well as completing appropriate follow-through and stewardship for multiple grants.
Manages the proposal development and submission process; writing and preparing grant proposals and other well-written, compelling and consistent documents that meet strategic direction and funding needs of ANAW while aligning/compliant with specific donor requirements.
Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders.
Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
Be responsible for managing a portfolio of grants

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Natural Resources, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
Minimum 3+ years of grant writing experience, specifically in the design and proposal writing of development initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in successful grant applications particularly institutions and foundations.
Experience developing budgets and outcomes/deliverables
Strong critical thinking, judgment and strategic decision-making.
Willing to share original 2-3 writing samples that demonstrate ability to write concise and well-structured prose. One should be a grant proposal.
Proficiency in computer packages especially with Ms Word, outlook and Excel and other related packages.
Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Commitment to respect of ANAW and donor procedures and policies.
High degree of integrity, dependability, and confidentiality.
Excellent conceptual, analytical, documentation and presentation skills.
A keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Willingness to be on call for donor enquiries out of hours
