Government Relations Assistant

About the role
The Government Relations Assistant is responsible for providing logistical support to the Government Relations Team in general. The Government Relations Assistant will work closely with the Assistant Manager, Operations, Government Relations to coordinate meetings and events as well as other administrative tasks. This position will also be tasked with updating critical Government Relations documents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Update Tracking Documents as required
Drafting of Government Relations correspondence letters
Raising and following up of electronic and procurement payment requests
Assist in applying and follow up on Licenses and Permits as listed in the Status Document on time
Ensure proper e-filing of secured company’s Dropbox folders documents and in Google Drive
Assist in acquisition of documentation required for compliance from different teams
Assist in coordinating events, meetings, logistical requirements as well as other administrative tasks
Ensuring Government Relations contact lists and other shared data is updated
Support on- time completion of time sensitive tasks in the company’s ongoing operations
Provide cover for Government Relations field staff as may be required
Support a team member as may be required
Any other duties as may be assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications

Diploma in Business Administration social sciences related
Degree in Business, Community and Policy related disciplines will be desirable
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Proven experience of having worked in informal settlements
Experience in compliance related environment will be an added advantage
Well-developed written, oral, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with a high degree of sensitivity for confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable in being part of an interdisciplinary team in order to provide excellent customer service
Discrete, tactful and diplomatic
High level of attention to detail, self-motivated and a team player
Ability to take a proactive approach on projects and work with minimal direction
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
50% of the job is field based liaising between different offices/ tasks and working in the informal settlements
