The primary responsibility of the Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development is to support our partners around the globe to design and run teacher preparation, training and alumni leadership development programs that intentionally and effectively grow leaders for educational equity. To do so, this person will create best-in-class learning experiences, resources, and tools and provide 1:1 coaching or consulting support to network partners in collaboration with other Teach For All staff.
Outcomes
Success in this role means that partner organizations have the necessary coaching, consulting, learning experiences, tools, connections, and resources to support the design and implementation of strong participant training and alumni programs that build leadership development skills toward growing student leadership and systems change. Among other things, partner staff should be able to:
Have a clear theory of leadership that drives the design of their training and support of participants and their support of alumni
Measure the growth of leadership that happens as a result of their program
Have an engaged set of alumni working collectively for systems change
Integrate the latest insights from the Teaching as Collective Leadership work (e.g. applying the lenses of students as leaders, teachers as learners, community as power and our work as systemic to thinking about the leadership development of students, teachers and alumni)
Success in this role will be measured by:
Published learning and insights based on key learning questions related training and support and alumni
Evidence that partner organizations are integrating leadership development into their two year program in ways that are making a measurable impact on the leadership of teachers and alumni
Creation of high quality virtual and in person learning experiences that are well attended and valued by Heads of Training, teacher coaches, and Heads of Alumni
High participation in Heads of Training, teacher coach, and Heads of Alumni communities and satisfaction within those communities
Coaching and consulting projects meeting their stated short term and medium term objectives
Successful internal trainings that build skills and shift mindsets
As the Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities:
Create Shared Resources & Insights (40%)
Identify and create knowledge products and global insights to share across the Teach For All network.
Leverage 1:1 coaching conversations, community engagements and learning experiences to identify trends and distill global insights
Update and create key resources and knowledge products related to teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership, and system change
Create and implement strategy to share emerging insights across the Teach For All network, both internally and externally
Lead Learning Experiences and Communities that Enhance the Effectiveness of Partner Training, Support & Alumni Teams (35%)
Diagnose needs and co-develop a global strategy for content, learning experiences, resources, and tools in the following topic areas:
Leadership development of network teachers via pre-service teacher training (in-person as well as virtual), informed by the latest insights from the Teaching as Collective Leadership work
Leadership development of students, including student voice, representation, and agency within and outside the classrooms
Leadership development of alumni via supporting network Heads of Alumni and partnering with other staff to offer content directly to network alumni
Individual and collective alumni strategies that develop alumni leadership in pursuit of system change
Manage communities of network Heads of Training, coaches, and Heads of Alumni
Closely collaborate with colleagues working on systems change; Teaching as Collective Leadership; Measurement, Evaluation, Research & Learning; and special initiatives (e.g. Girls’ Education, Student Voice, etc)
Provide 1:1 Coaching & Consulting Support (20%)
Serve as a key member of a diverse set of agile project teams focused on delivering solutions for an array of needs for our partner organizations.
Provide one-off consultation for partners facing challenges in teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development, enacting their theory of change
Engage in project-based support alongside others to advance breakthroughs in teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development
Capture & share insights related to teacher training & support and teacher & alumni leadership development
Liaising with Regional Colleagues (5%)
Work with other Teach For All colleagues to collaborate on teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development.
Collaborate with regional staff to co-diagnose the needs of partners in the regions and determine appropriate support solutions
Design and host professional development calls for other staff members on the topics of teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development
Socialize key insights and learnings among Teach For All staff in the areas of teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development
As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
Previous experience as a participant/ alumnus and a Head of Training or Head of Program from the Teach For All network – strongly preferred
Demonstrated strong focus on leadership development & systems change
Deep expertise and experience in teacher training and instructional coaching
Passion for growing the capacities of those who work with novice teachers and alumni and supporting their learning journeys
Ability to influence and motivate others outside of direct team relationships
Ability to partner with a diverse range of stakeholders and across lines of power difference
Ability to create concrete resources and help support programs to design systems and structures to support teacher/alumni training and development
Demonstrated ability to coach others
Ability to design and execute powerful remote and in-person learning experiences
Ability to comfortably work across multiple dynamics of cultural difference effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and globally dispersed environment
Comfort with ambiguity and fluidity and ability to operate with little guidance
Ability to manage multiple streams of work, use strong judgment to independently prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, dynamic, and globally dispersed team environment
