Job summary:
The role of Strategic Planning operates as a critical contributor to South Pole’s organizational performance, dedicated to establishing and executing a robust strategic performance framework. This framework serves as a conduit for translating company goals into impactful drivers that propel strategic initiatives and provides a comprehensive structure for evaluating the efficiency of core business processes.
Working as a high proficient individual contributor, the Strategic Planning role holds the business accountable for achieving its strategic objectives, targets, and processes. Simultaneously, it plays a pivotal role in facilitating an understanding of performance levels, and identifying areas of under or over-performance. This proactive approach ensures continuous oversight of performance, enabling the initiation of change projects when necessary and extracting valuable lessons for ongoing improvement.
In collaboration with the Organizational Effectiveness team, the role actively contributes to initiating change projects. Additionally, close coordination with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) ensures the continuous measurement and reporting of progress. Furthermore, collaboration with our Insights team is integral for conducting in-depth analyses of performance as needed. This holistic approach underscores the role of Strategic Planning as not just a watchdog but an active and indispensable contributor to organizational success.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
Regularly monitor and report on the quarterly performance of diverse businesses.
Ensure outcomes align seamlessly with overarching strategic goals.
Collaborate closely with an advanced analytics team to leverage insights for driving effective strategic planning.
Design, cascade, and monitor South Pole’s company goals, key performance drivers, and process execution.
Collaborate with business lines to implement a South Pole-wide business performance framework.
Identify and implement a system to track performance in alignment with the established framework.
Connect this system with strategic projects and overall company strategy.
Implement and run training sessions for all management personnel to ensure widespread understanding and active participation in the performance tracking system.
Conduct regular reviews and assessments with business leaders on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Engage with business line leads and accountable personnel to determine the need for course changes, set stretch targets, and extract lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Proactively engage with the broader Organizational Performance team.
Initiate change projects where necessary, providing support for in-depth data insights when required, and ensuring ongoing strategic projects are effectively measured through collaboration with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).
Requirements:
Essential –
Previous experience in management consulting will be seen as an important asset.
An advanced degree in business, finance, or a related field complements your experience.
Proven track record in strategic planning and a strong analytical mindset.
Independent and entrepreneurial, you’re comfortable working collaboratively and embody a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Exceptional communication skills, enabling you to inspire and align a diverse range of stakeholders.
Deep understanding of global market dynamics and the foresight to anticipate industry changes.
