General Manager

Our client is a VC-backed health tech startup currently operating in multiple countries in East Africa, including Kenya. They are looking for an experienced General Manager. The GM must be a born leader able to ensure the organization continues to keep up to its high standards. We are seeking a person that has extensive managerial experience such as overseeing business operations, selling, human resources and finance. The ideal candidate should have proven sales experience, be good at networking and an excellent communicator. He/she should be driven by a desire to improve healthcare in East and Central Africa and lead our business to maximum growth and efficiency.
Responsibilities

Find opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business strategies and business relationships/ Public Private Partnerships across East and Central Africa
Oversee day-to-day operations, set and track KPIs and ensure the team is productive
Review and improve organizational effectiveness
Develop strategic plans for optimized productivity and growth
Develop and implement growth strategies that lead to increased revenue
Monitor competition, improve company’s sales strategy and processes
Recruit and lead a high-performing team including middle level management
Create and monitor the company budget and financial model together with our CFO
Oversee the company’s data collection and commercialization processes

Person’s Specifications

10 years proven success in a managerial role
Very strong business development skills including ability to form strong relationships with potential buyers and follow up sales to closure
Proven sales history of high value products or services
Strong decision-making ability
Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans
Very strong proven leadership skills 
Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management or related field.
Masters in an added advantage
Experience in conducting performance evaluations
Working knowledge of human-resources processes
Fluency in French an added advantage
5 years experience working in East Africa, preferably in the medical sector
