Reporting to: Chief Finance officer
Job Purpose:
To design, plan and coordinate all aspects of financial control of the bank by establishing and implementing sound accounting and financial control systems and procedures in accordance with standing financial management instructions of the Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
Enforce the implementation of an effective internal control system and procedures.
Development of Budgets and management accounting processes including data analytics to support strategic decision making.
Cost management and ensuring that all the budgetary controls are in place and enforced.
Prepare the Bank’s end-year statutory accounts and returns including the Company’s tax affairs.
Preparation and submission of the Bank’s periodic statutory returns mainly to CBK and KRA.
Management of all payables and receivables to ensure accuracy and authorization of the same.
Managing both internal and external audits and implementation of recommendations.
Ensuring that the integrity of the general ledger is maintained consistently
Finance Lead for all Projects.
Training Bank & Finance staff on financial & accounting matters as well as continuous development of the team through proper leadership, mentoring and coaching.
Evidence of the ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
Ensures that all new business is in line with KYC and AML/CTF laws and regulations and customer information is regularly updated.
Ensure adherence of all bank’s prescribed processes, standard operating procedures and central bank requirements.
Role Models the Brand and Corporate Values of the Bank in the internal and external market environment.
Works as part of a team for the purpose of winning together.
The Person:
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
Qualifications
Holds a bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting or its equivalent.
Full CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA or ACA and pursuing CPE.
A minimum of three (3) years senior accounting experience including preparation of management accounting reports, maintaining accurate accounting records and effective control of budgets.
A postgraduate qualification is a plus.
Proficiency in computing packages and other accounting software packages.
Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity, confidentiality and integrity when dealing with internal and external customers.
Understand the Banking Act and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) clearing procedures and prudential guidelines; high levels of professionalism and professional development
Competencies
Understand the Banking Act and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) clearing procedures and general laws related to Banking; high levels of professionalism and professional development.
Good Knowledge of CBK Prudential Guidelines
Management and leadership ability: Have excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
Computer skills: Adept in use of Ms Word, Excel, Access, power-point, Internet and email.
