Finance Mentor(s)

We are seeking to recruit Finance mentors based in Kakamega County.

Conduct business assessment visits for project beneficiaries to assess their financial health and operational performance. During the visits, the mentor will observe how the business is functioning; identifying strengths and weaknesses.
Carry out financial performance review by looking at the business account statements, sales reports, and other relevant documents to evaluate the business’s financial profit margin and cash flow.
Support project beneficiaries in coming up with a business model canva support from the financial coach.
Engage in challenge identification through discussions with the project beneficiaries and observation of business operations in order to identify issues that may be hindering business growth.
Offer guidance and support to project beneficiaries on pitching their business ideas at the end of the project.
Based on the assessment conducted, the mentor with support from the finance coach will develop a customized support plan tailored to the specific needs and goals of each business.
Conduct hands-on assistance to help the project beneficiaries implement the support plan for their businesses.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Bachelor’s degree/diploma in finance, business, or a related field.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

A strong understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, financial analysis, cash flow management, and financial reporting is key.
Experience or knowledge of business operations, including marketing, sales, operations management, and strategic planning, is valuable for understanding the broader context in which businesses operate and identifying areas for improvement.
Effective communication skills are essential for building rapport with business owners, gathering information, explaining financial concepts, and providing support and guidance in a clear and understandable manner.
Strong problem-solving skills are essential for identifying challenges faced by businesses and developing creative and practical solutions to address them. This may involve thinking critically, considering alternative options, and adapting strategies to meet the unique needs of each business.
Awareness of cultural diversity and sensitivity to the unique cultural backgrounds and experiences of survivors are important for building trust and rapport and providing culturally appropriate support and guidance.
