Finance Manager

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Lead regional financial strategy development and annual financial operations planning and execution across country offices in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda
Generate and present monthly financial reports highlighting performance against budget, explaining variances, recommending solutions, and implementing relevant control measures to keep the organization on track towards annual targets and strategic plans
Maintain cash flows and organizational financial health by advising department heads on financial positions in relation to overall business strategy
Oversee internal controls by setting up systems and enforcing policies to keep operations compliant with applicable tax and IFRS standards and to ensure bookkeeping consistency across countries
Manage other East Africa Finance Team members, overseeing performance and departmental development through coaching and mentoring
Run financial management and reporting for any grants or projects with development agencies or partner organizations that Sinapis may onboard and as specified in respective grant agreements
Manage the audit process in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, including hiring of audit firms, scheduling, providing requested documents and responding to all audit queries
At any given time, be informed and prepared to advise Sinapis global leadership on the financial standing and sustainability of its East Africa offices and programs
Ensure full compliance with NGO Board requirements in Kenya and Uganda and the Company Act in Rwanda by ensuring all proper documentation has been filed in relation to annual returns as well as any changes in Boards of Management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least six (6) years of professional-level experience in accounting and/or finance in a reputable organization, public or private (NGO or donor-funded projects a plus)
At least two (2) years of regional experience, preferably working with Rwanda and/or Uganda
At least two (2) years of experience in managing a team or teams in multiple locations
Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with strong character and integrity
Undergraduate degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
Master’s degree and certifications related to chartered accountancy (CA, CPA, ACCA, ICPAK membership, etc.) or significant qualifying experience (please explain in cover letter) if not
Solid understanding of business, entrepreneurship, and missions
Ability to work independently in a small team environment
