Field Officer-TWENDE Project

JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under direct supervision of the Senior Project Officers/Landscape Coordinators, the Field Officer will support in the implementation of CRF activities within the respective landscapes. The Field Officer will be responsible for managing the field-level CRF program implementation and for achievement of the field level outputs. The specific responsibilities of this position are:

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Support in overall implementation of the Community Resilient Facility (CRF) activities at the Landscape Level where specific activities will be done.
Support in community engagements & capacity building to ensure the beneficiary groups have the necessary skills to implement sustainable land management practices.
Support with coordinating stakeholders for activity implementation at the landscape level.
Assist in organizing various workshops, trainings, and meetings.
Update and report to the Senior Project Officer on a regular basis about the progress and constraints and try to resolve implementation problems, if any, in consultation with advice/guidance of the Chief of Party.
Act as a field level representative of the during project meetings and external events.
Supervise the activities of field-based community enterprises including administrative work.
Popularize and ensure activities follow the Environmental and Social Management Framework guidelines.
Represents TWENDE project at Fund Management Committee Meetings and other events where requested.
Support in documenting success stories from the CRF activity successes, lessons learnt and impact.
Ensures that the IUCN fulfils internal and external quality control and reporting obligations to the climate funds by ensuring that reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepare annual work plan, quarterly progress report, annual progress report and other plans as required and ensure timely submission to the Senior Project Officer.
Support the development, coordination, and supervision of CRF enterprises to operate as desired.
Support data collection and monitoring of project activities at field level.
Assist in coordination, facilitation, and supervision of subcontracts/consultants in the field.
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education;

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/conservation finance/community development/ economics, finance, project management, or another relevant subject.

Work Experience;

5+ years of work experience in project/programme management
Experience in conservation and conservation finance, sustainable land management practices especially in drylands.
Experience in working with financial institutions as private sector partners in conservation.
Experience in community engagement and development.
Knowledge of working on drylands value chains.
Experience in developing climate financing instruments.

Language Proficiency;

Fluency in English and Swahili, a knowledge of a local language in the landscapes is an added advantage.
