Duties and Responsibilities
Overall farm management and achieving agreed targets.
Implementing all Livestock policies and programs through coordination of farm operations and timely and accurate reporting to the head office.
Coordinating disease control and management including the animal welfare.
Coordinating the farm’s breeding activities for improved milk and calf production.
Implementing pasture and fodder establishment, management, harvesting and conservation plans within the target time frame.
Implementing an on-farm ration and feeding regime for profitable and sustainable milk and calf production.
Preparing and implementing farms plans and budgets for farm operations within the stipulated timelines.
Preparing, keeping and sharing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual farm reports.
Effective and efficient use and maintenance of farm machinery, implements and structures.
Mentoring, coaching, supervising and appraising all farm employees.
Representing KDDC in Stakeholder Workshops and Meetings in Area of work.
Qualification and Key competence
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be a holder of at least Diploma in Animal Production and Health, Diploma in Agriculture and animal health or any other related field from a recognized institution with two years’ experience.
A certificate in Artificial Insemination will be an added advantage.
Certificate in Computer Literacy.
Have good communication skills.
Motorcycle riding license will be an added advantage.
Be able to work under pressure with minimum supervision and meet required deadlines
Be ready to stay on the farm
