Experienced Entrepreneur

We are looking for an experienced entrepreneur who can quickly convert innovative concepts to independent ventures, and lead venture teams to success. Someone combining the conceptual skills of a consultant, the action drive of an entrepreneur, and the team development skills of a coach

Responsibilities

Perform in-depth primary and secondary research and root cause analysis into the issues we are targeting.
Ideate and design desirable and scalable game-changing business concepts.
Engage and work together with partners, both large and small organizations, commercial and non-commercial.
Be a product manager who is responsible for defining the “market – value proposition – product” triangle.
Quickly prototype and test different business models or assumptions with the target group.
Design business models for scalability and replicability, leveraging technological innovation.
Set up and structure new companies, including hiring management team, operating systems, financial and legal compliance, and so on.
Plan and budget for projects/ ventures
Analyse and control of revenues, costs, and margins.
Raise funds (both grants and commercial capital). Identify funders, prepare pitch decks & financial models, develop investor pitches, grant-writing and manage due diligence processes.
Coach and develop a team of venture leads/ CEOs to build and scale ventures.
Collaborate with the international team on strategy, finance, marketing, etc.

Qualifications

Working experience >10 years of which at least 5 years are as co-founder or senior manager of a leading start up and/or as a management consultant.
Educational qualification in management, or economics; preferably a Masters degree
3+ years’ experience leading and coaching a team of senior staff/ start up teams.
High learning drive, and openness to constantly learn, empathize, shift perspectives where needed to operate in a dynamic industry
The ability to think conceptually, with a systemic & strategic lens are necessary
Knowledge and intuition with lean thinking concepts are necessary
Proven experience in co-building solutions/ ventures/ projects, along with a peer. We work in teams, with multiple venture builders jointly building a solution.
Strong communication skills with significant experience in public speaking, and in operating in multi-functional, multi-cultural teams
Experience in innovation, business modeling and/or product design is an advantage
Furthermore, the ideal candidate is a people manager, fluent in English, and can work independently. The job will be performed in Nairobi, Kenya and we are specifically looking for a local candidate.
