ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of this assessment exercise is to identify, map and analyze the overall humanitarian needs of refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi. Secondly, it is intended to provide an analytical insight into where different needs lie and to what extent, so that relevant program areas of HIAS and RCK can add value, prioritize, plan and respond.
The Specific Objectives Are
To provide an empirical overview of the status and developments of humanitarian needs for refugees and asylum seekers across Nairobi, especially regarding the accessibility to basic services.
To provide a multisectoral and comparable overview/update of the needs, capacities, and vulnerability situation of refugees and asylum seekers in urban areas (Nairobi), to provide the evidence base to inform the 2024 HIP planning and prioritization process.
To ensure that the needs and vulnerabilities of different refugee groups are understood, including women, children, older people, people with disabilities, and others who may face additional risks and barriers.
To ensure that the perspectives and preferences of refugees are reflected in the strategic and response planning.
To enhance targeting for the provision of assistance. Aiming to collect enough evidence and data to better inform future data driven targeting.
To improve the accuracy and completeness of comparable socio-economic indicators of refugees and asylum seekers to support evidence-based program design and planning for inclusion
To establish the suitable mechanisms for Accountability to Affected Populations including Feedback, Complaints and Response Mechanisms for vulnerable refugees, including LGBTQ+ persons, and the host community in Nairobi.
