About the role:
As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and growing a multi-disciplined software build team. You’ll provide strategic direction to shape the software architecture, development processes, and technical roadmap. Collaborating closely with all Roam teams and external stakeholders, you’ll drive the delivery of innovative software solutions that exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
A Director in Roam has broad and deep responsibilities across many areas. It is a very autonomous role working closely with the C Suite and other senior managers.
Lead, mentor, and inspire a software build team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Define and execute the technical strategy for software development, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software applications.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver feature-rich, user-centric solutions.
Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools, and methodologies.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and advocate for their integration when relevant.
Develop and take responsibility for project timelines, resource allocation, and budget management to ensure successful project and product delivery.
Provide regular reports to executive leadership on team performance, project status, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience (we are thinking 7+ years) in software development with a focus on progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.
Strong background in software design, architecture, and development across a range of technologies.
Track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence cross-functional teams.
Experience in agile methodologies and modern software development practices.
Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
