Job Description
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
Overseeing the general administration and management of the Institute;
Developing, implementing and reviewing research plans, policies, strategies, and programmes in liaison with the Research Institute Advisory Committee;
Coordinating identification and prioritization of research programmes;
Preparing short and long term research programmes within the framework of the national agricultural and livestock research systems;
Facilitating effective dissemination and adoption of KALRO technologies, products and innovations;
Promoting the establishment and strengthening of strategic partnerships and collaborations;
Coordinating resource mobilization for research;
Developing effective and efficient planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework for programmes and projects;
Aligning the Institute’s targets to overall performance contract of the organization;
Coordinating preparation of Institute workplans and budgets;
Ensuring prudent management and utilization of Institute resources; and
Ensuring capacity building at the Institute.
Job Specifications
For appointment to these positions, candidates must have:-
A PhD in a relevant field from a recognized University;
Served as a Chief Principal Research Officer or an equivalent position in comparable research organization;
Six (6) years post qualification experience in relevant field;
Proven research output with at least eight (8) papers published in the last five (5) years;
Demonstrate ability to attract research funds;
Demonstrate success in training and supervising junior research staff
Undergone a Senior Management Course/Strategic Leadership Development Program or their equivalent from a recognized institution;
Knowledge on policy formulation and negotiation skills and stakeholder engagement;
Demonstrated professional competence; and
Computer literate.
Note. Appointment to the above positions will be for a period of three (3) years renewable once, subject to satisfactory performance.
