Your Background & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree.
1-3 years of work experience.
Demonstrate commitment to a career in international development, with at least 2 years of professional experience (work experience may include a combination of part-time or internships); experience in business development strongly preferred.
Experience in the design and preparation of proposals for donor organizations, including USAID and other U.S. government agencies preferred.
Proven organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a demanding, time sensitive work environment.
Demonstrate capability to work independently and as part of a team, to take initiative, and meet deadlines within strict time constraints.
Knowledge in governance, civil society, media, technology, youth, or education development sectors preferred.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Comfort with numbers and budgets, and facility with Excel.
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Ability to professionally communicate with a wide range of partners, experts, and other contacts.
Ability to represent IREX publicly, including in person and through digital platforms.
Geographic expertise and/or proficiency in a second language preferred.
Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English required.
Geographic expertise and/or proficiency in a second language preferred.
You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States or Kenya.

Your Daily Tasks

Support all aspects of designing and preparing proposals in response to donor funding opportunities across all IREX practices.
Coordinate proposals for USG and bi-lateral donors.
Coordinate a combination of bids simultaneously.
Prepare written and visual components of proposals, to include drafting attachments and other sections of proposals as needed.
Assist with editing, proofreading, and formatting proposal documents.
Support the New Business Development Unit with administrative tasks as assigned.
Assist with data entry, cleaning, and management of Salesforce for the NBDU.
Monitor donor databases to identify potential funding opportunities for the New Business Development Team to pursue.
Conduct desk research on existing international development programming from donors such as USAID, Department of State, or other bilateral donors.
Conduct desk research into possible program implementation partners, new best practices or approaches to program design, as requested by proposal managers.
Organize research for use during proposals as requested by proposal managers.
Research potential key personnel
If requested by proposal manager, serves as main point of contact with partner organizations to coordinate proposal inputs and deliverables.
Draft capacity statements for ongoing or upcoming proposals.
Coordinate, attend, and takes notes at proposal design and review meetings.
Participate in partnership meetings with potential proposal partners, including with local, regional, and international organizations.
Assist proposal recruiters in recruitment of staff and preparation of staffing documents for proposals, such as CVs, biography paragraphs, letters of commitment, etc.
Research costing issues to inform accurate budget development.
Check budgets for accurate calculations (math checks) and logic, cross references budgets and budget notes for proposal.
Prepare cost applications for submission to donors, which includes budgets, budget narratives, standard forms, certifications and assurances, approval of subawards, etc.
May support or lead budget development as requested.
Other support duties as needed.
