Reporting To: Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs
Job Description
To be responsible for overseeing student affairs. These include managing student’s extra curriculum activities, health, special needs, counselling, mentorship, welfare, and career planning to meet student needs while at university.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
Coordinate student welfare such as accommodation and health
Promote social and cultural extracurricular activities
Oversee activities of student sports, organizations and clubs
Address student disciplinary issues, advice and/or refer them for counselling
Act as liaison between students, university and parents/guardians
Develop and implement relevant university policies and procedures
Address student concerns
Manage budget for student activities.
Academic requirements
A master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
Registered with relevant professional body
Work Experience
At least five (5) years’ relevant professional experience
Work experience in student affairs in a university/college or institution of higher learning
Counselling skills and experience
Qualities and Competencies
Knowledge, passion and skills to work with youth
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Skills to establish and maintain trust with students.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to work with diverse students in respect to age, culture and ability.
Demonstrates ability to multitask efficiently.
