Deputy Country Director

Job Summary
The Kenya Deputy Country Director (DCD) will support the Kenya Country Director by providing strategic leadership, management and direction of all aspects of local Jacaranda Health programs. The DCD will also play a key role in liaising with program private and public partners, local authorities, donors and other relevant stakeholders. The DCD will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of Jacaranda Health’s 2023-2025 Kenya organizational objectives which specifically entail; the expansion of our solutions to reach 3M mothers in Kenya by 2025 and putting data at the center of MNH service delivery to give mothers greater agency within the health system and to support providers to improve quality of care. 
Key responsibility areas 

Strategic Leadership: You are a leader that is passionate about organizational growth and team building. You internalize the organizational mission and support the Country Director in the development of new project concepts and proposals that are in line with current best practices and effective transitional strategies. Provide strategic supervision in the planning of project milestones and high-level goals in coordination with internal and external teams, assist in the development of annual planning and timely, high-quality implementation of key results.  In coordination with the Country Director and the management team ensure effective communication mechanism are in place to facilitate access to information by all staff across board to enhance inclusive participation and empowering work environment”
Strategic programmatic implementation: You know when to take a step back and recalibrate, and you know when to roll up your sleeves and dig in. Your role will be to develop and provide strategic direction towards the implementation of Jacaranda programs. This will be measured by ensuring we are improving quality of care through the utilization of data to provide strategic programmatic insights. While also working closely with the county health systems to identify and allocate financial resources that impact quality of care leading to lower maternal and neonatal outcomes across our 20 counties. 
Data driven decision making: Data and insights drive your actions. Working in conjunction with the Research, Design & Evaluation division to ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against program objectives are conducted and benchmarked against to ensure and provide  comprehensive reports are made to the relevant internal and external stakeholders. You shall be accountable for ensuring program data is routinely reviewed and utilized for programmatic decision making. 
Relationship management: You are an experienced partnership builder and communicator. The DCD shall be responsible for ensuring a good relationship with senior level external stakeholders (government, parastatal and public partners, as well as donors and peers in the NGO space) for existing projects while also coordinating and running high-level county and national engagements in collaboration with the Country Director and Partnerships team. 

Essential Experience /Competencies

Master’s Degree in Strategic Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Health or any other related field
Minimum of five years of experience in a managerial and leadership role preferably in a non profit  environment
Experience understanding data insights and translating them to programmatic leadership and direction
Direct experience in building the capacity of local NGOs and working with local partners .
Significant knowledge and experience in project design, development implementation and management
Demonstrated experience leveraging private sector funding and/or engaging with private sector stakeholders.
Demonstrated Capacity to work in a dynamic environment and under reasonable pressure
Demonstrated Ability to drive change and innovation.
