Patient Examination and Diagnosis: You are responsible for conducting thorough examinations of patients’ oral health, including evaluating teeth, gums, and supporting structures. Use various diagnostic tools and techniques, such as X-rays, dental impressions, and oral cancer screenings, to identify dental issues and develop treatment plans.
Treatment Planning: Develop comprehensive treatment plans based on your examination and diagnosis. Consider the patient’s oral health needs, goals, and preferences when recommending specific treatments, such as fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, orthodontics, or oral surgery.
Dental Procedures and Treatments: Perform a wide range of dental procedures and treatments to restore and maintain oral health. These may include fillings, root canals, extractions, dental cleanings, teeth whitening, periodontal therapy, and fitting dental prosthetics like dentures or dental implants. Use your clinical expertise and specialized tools to deliver these treatments effectively and efficiently.
Oral Health Education: You will play a crucial role in educating patients about proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care. Guide on brushing and flossing techniques, dietary choices that promote oral health, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
Dental Consultations: Conduct consultations with patients to discuss their oral health concerns, evaluate treatment options, and address questions or anxieties. Provide clear explanations about the recommended treatments, expected outcomes, and potential risks or complications. Strive to ensure that patients have a comprehensive understanding of their dental health and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care.
Patient Management and Comfort: You are responsible for ensuring the comfort and well-being of your patients throughout their dental visits. This includes managing pain and anxiety by administering local anesthetics or sedation when necessary. Monitor patients during procedures, making adjustments as needed to ensure their comfort and safety.
Record keeping and Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate dental records for each patient, documenting their oral health status, treatment plans, procedures performed, and any other relevant information. This information helps track patients’ progress, informs future treatment decisions, and ensures legal and regulatory compliance.
Collaboration with Dental Team: Work closely with other dental professionals, such as dental hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative staff, to provide comprehensive patient care. Collaborate on treatment plans, coordinate appointments, and communicate regarding patient needs and progress. Lead the dental team and provide guidance and supervision to ensure optimal patient care.
Continual Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with advancements in dental techniques, technologies, and research. Attend continuing education courses, conferences, and workshops to enhance your skills, expand your knowledge, and deliver the highest standard of care to your patients.
