You will lead in developing a global data protection and privacy policy and related information and IT security standards for our 45-country Federation. This means implementing systems, training and controls to ensure compliance with relevant data protection legislation and regulation, most importantly the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You will also act as the designated Data Protection Officer for ActionAid International’s Global Secretariat, reporting to and liaising with regulatory authorities as required.
This is a highly visible position, both internally and externally, and will require exceptional influencing and relationship management skills as you work to promote data protection best practice across the entire organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role in a global but decentralized organisation, preferably in the non-profit sector. You should hold relevant professional qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/T, CIPM, and have excellent knowledge of GDPR and other data protection or privacy laws and regulations potentially applicable to AAI.
