About the Opportunity
The Data Engineer is a new position for Inkomoko as we double the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team in 2023. The Data Engineer will work alongside the Data Scientist and Data Analyst, all reporting to the head of Business Intelligence, the Business Analytics Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and databases. They will also be responsible for cleaning and QA of data, developing ETL processes, and optimizing data storage solutions.
The Data Engineer will work closely with the organization’s stakeholders to ensure that the data collected is accurate, secure, and accessible. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the organization’s data quality.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
Analyze data and develop insights from a range of data sets across the company
Work with the Data Engineering staff to ensure that data is clean, well structured, secure, and accessible
Create and Manage company dashboards
Create visualizations, presentations, and reports to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
Run inferential statistical analyses on various data sets to identify trends & relationships
Develop strategies to improve the organization’s data quality
Monitor performance of databases and raise/ deal with any issues that arise
Provide technical support to stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should be at an advanced level within the M&E domain and bring years of relevant experience to the role. The ideal candidate will fulfill the following requirements:
Previous experience in data management in a complex and fast-scaling environment in East Africa
At least 3 years work experience in data management
Experience in SQL to model data and optimise queries
Ability to work with APIs
Experience with ETLs and basic python scripting
Bachelors’ degree in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Computer science or other relevant field
