WHAT YOU WILL DO AT BIHC
Reporting to the Head of Academic Affairs, the Counsellor & Mental Wellness Officer is responsible providing both counselling, mental health and wellness services and programs that foster pro-social skills and appropriate behavior to students. You will be expected to identify the mental health and behavioral needs of students as well as develop and implement treatment plans.
You will work cooperatively with the Principal, faculty, staff, students and parents towards a positive school climate.

Your key Responsibilities:
Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, faculty, administrators and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified needs.
Support and assist students in overcoming social and emotional learning (SEL) related barriers to school involvement and education success.
Provide individual, structured counseling through established processes.
Maintain counseling logs and other required paperwork.
Participate as a leader in the institutions Emergency/Crisis Response Team.
Collect and analyze data to support Mental Health/Wellness program goals.
Facilitate and support substance abuse prevention and early intervention programs.
Liaise with faculty for reports on student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assist with relevant interventions as it relates to student mental health/wellness.
Promote school safety activities related to prevention and crisis response.
Provide parent involvement and parent education activities.
Academic involvement through teaching any relevant course
Participate in student placement assessment and facilitate necessary psychosocial assessment and support
Any other duties as may be assigned by the management.
THE SKILLS AND COMPETENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Minimum requirements on Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling Psychology or related studies from a recognized university (an added advantage)
Must have served for a minimum of five years working experience doing counseling and mental well activities.
Be conversant with guiding and counselling strategies for diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated competency in work performance.
Membership of a professional Body.
Demonstrate continuing professional development.
