Job Purpose:
To provide psychological support and therapeutical interventions to clients in areas related to the field of counselling & clinical psychology. This is in line with the overall institutional aims of providing quality care with compassion and within an ethical framework.
Identify and diagnose psychological, emotional and behavioural issues
Develop and implement treatment plans and therapeutic processes
Help clients explore and identify goals and formulate action plans to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development
Monitor client progress through regular follow-up sessions
Key responsibilities:
Provide psychological Support to clients experiencing “life-issues such as trauma, end-of-life, illness, etc.
Counselling for trauma/ grief and loss, acute and chronic illness, and mental health issues
Support the employee-assisted program (EAP) of the HR department by providing staff with psychological support.
Staff training and development: Conduct training activities within departments that contribute towards meeting the institutional & departmental goals
Qualifications, experience and Skills required:
Registration with the Ministry of Health in Kenya with a valid Practice Licence
A master’s degree in counselling/clinical psychology
Theoretical education in counselling (e.g. Undergraduate in Counselling)
Diploma or above in counselling/nursing in a medical context
Additional training in fields that can complement the role of counselling (e.g. Trauma, chronic illness, death & dying)
Minimum 2 years work experience
Experience in a medical setting
Knowledge of human emotional social and psychological challenges
High ethical and moral principles -beyond reproach with a professional approach
Capable of being a role model in the organisation and in society
Team player with a willingness to learn
