Job Responsibilities:
Strategy Development – work with Business Unit Heads and Departmental Heads to develop communications strategies that are aligned with the overarching objectives and strategy of the Bank.
Budget management – prepare and manage departmental budgets to ensure discipline in spending by prioritizing key projects.
Crisis Communication Management – take the lead in crisis communications planning and management.
Internal communications – promote the Bank’s Mission and Vision internally and externally by developing the necessary messages and materials to promote the same.
Media Relations – Handling the media on all aspects relating to the Bank including new products and services, policy and other arising matters. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers. Proactively engage with the media to promote positive coverage of the bank’s activities and manage crisis communication when necessary.
Event management – preparing newsletters, press releases, organizing press conferences and press briefings on various projects, initiatives and activities undertaken by the Bank. supporting community and social activities through liaison with branches and relevant departments
Brand and Product Campaigns – in liaison with marketing department, develop appropriate marketing campaigns to grow the respective product lines and channels.
Digital platforms management – develop and execute social media and online strategies that include search engine optimization, keyword search, search engine marketing and social media. Generate and update content on the Intranet and bank’s corporate website.
Training, development/coaching of team members to deliver desired results.
Measurement and Reporting – Track and measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives using relevant metrics. Provide regular reports to senior management on the impact of corporate communications efforts.

Increased positive coverage in the media
Better turnaround times in branch marketing support
Timely and consistent production of monthly updates and newsletters
Effective event management
Effectiveness of communication with all relevant publics.
Effective handling of Crisis Communication
Thorough understanding and application of branding principles
Requirements:
MA/MS (in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, or other related field)
BA/BS (in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, or other related field)
At least 7 years of experience in Corporate Communications, with 3 years at a managerial level. Experience in financial services sector will be an added advantage.
Substantial and diverse experience in all facets of communications, marketing and/or public affairs, and proven ability to conceptualize, design and implement major campaigns, strategies or programs.
Good knowledge of the political economy of African countries, principal development issues and of developments related to the banking sector.
Good knowledge of financial sector issues.
Demonstrated political awareness, diplomatic and interpersonal skills required for cultivating effective client relationships/partnerships.
