Consultancy to Support Communications for the Kenya Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) Initiative

Scope of work 
The aim of this consultancy is to develop a Communications Strategy for the Kenya PFP and kick off its implementation in collaboration with key partners and TNC Global PFP Communications Team, ensuring alignment with global requirements. The scope of the assignment will require the consultant to:
 

Represent TNC on the Communications Technical Working group and lead in the development of a joint Communications Strategy, work plan, and schedule of communications outputs for the Kenya PFP.
Brand the Kenya PFP complete with name, logo, socialization plan, and supporting written, visual, audio, and motion assets. 
Develop communication product sets for key audiences (Government Ministries, Conservation Stakeholders, Communities, and the Private Sector (including though not limited to; Two-pager Fact Sheets, Talking Points, Key Messages, FAQs, Generic PowerPoints for priority audiences, and Explainer Infographics on Kenya PFP
Design and implement a Kenya PFP public-facing campaign jointly with key partners and set up supporting infrastructure including a map of ideal agencies and platforms best suited to deliver campaign goals within target audiences i.e., Kenyan public and communities at the grassroots of conservation. 
Develop and place Kenya PFP pre-campaign content from thought pieces in mainstream media to content on TNC-owned platforms. 
Build Kenya PFP spokesperson’s capacity and secure interviews on mainstream media platforms.
Develop and design short and long-form strategic communications products for the Kenya PFP such as documents, and slide decks, including translations where relevant (English-Swahili). 
Develop information, education, and communication materials that are reflective of key partners’ input.
Lead in the design and production of communications deliverables to support strategic events.
Serve as Communications Lead/Representative for the project and manage freelance experts to support delivery.
Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.

Geographical scope

The geographical scope of work for this assignment is the terrestrial protected and conserved areas across Kenya. A comprehensive list will be supplied by The Nature Conservancy. Occasional travel to project sites and events within Kenya will be required.

Duration of assignment

The assignment will be carried out within a period of six (6) months from the date of signing the Contract. 

Deliverables

Kenya PFP Communications Strategy developed in collaboration with key partners complete with supporting workplan and schedule of comms outputs. – Within 30 Days
Communication Products for priority audiences updated/developed. – Within 60 Days
Kenya PFP named, branded complete with logo and promotional assets. – Within 90 Days
Public Facing Kenya PFP Campaign and supporting Comms Products developed. (Campaign implementation from 150 days onwards). – Within 150 Days

Reporting arrangement 

The Consultant will be accountable to The Kenya PFP Communications Consultant and will report to the Communications Manager, Africa. 

Qualifications
The consultant will have the following skills and experience:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in communications or a related field and a minimum of 12 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creative, persuasive content for diverse and inclusive audiences including experience in translating complex scientific or technical content into compelling communications.
Experience in project management, developing and implementing communications and engagement strategies, and measuring results.
Experience collaborating with targeted vendors to facilitate the delivery of diverse communications products.
Proficiency/fluency in English.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience of working with many internal and external partners simultaneously.
Experience working in a multi-cultural and decentralized organization and liaising with NGO, corporate, and governmental organizations.
Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
