Consultancy to Develop a Training Package for Nationwide Rolling Out the Kenya Rural Sanitation and Hygiene Protocols and the Real-time Monitoring Information System

Expected results 

A comprehensive training package (training manual, programme, and slide deck) is developed to enhance the capacity of stakeholders at the national and county levels to understand and implement the RUSH Protocol, Implementing Guideline, and Monitoring Framework and operationalize the Kenya Rural and Urban Sanitation and Hygiene RTMIS, including user registration, data entry, validation, certification, and analysis.
A dissemination version of the RUSH Protocol, Implementing Guideline, and Monitoring Framework has been developed, summarizing key components of these documents for dissemination and use during training and fieldwork.
A national-level training for ToT is organized with MoH and UNICEF for a maximum of 100 master trainers, who will be responsible for training users of the protocol and system at the county and sub-county levels.

Minimum Qualifications required

University degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: development studies, WASH or sanitation and hygiene, public health, behavior change communication, or economics and social sciences.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required

Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in WASH.
At least 3 previous experiences in capacity building, research, review and/or development of WASH programmes.
Familiar with the current developments, research, and best practices in development of environmental sanitation and hygiene strategy.
A good understanding of global and national monitoring frameworks for WASH, including both urban and rural sanitation, on-site and off-site sanitation, communities, and institutions, is a must.
Good knowledge of the WASH sector and of the political governance structure in Kenya is required.
Experience working with/in UNICEF, the UN or other international development organizations is an asset.
Demonstrated technical report writing skills.
Fluency in written and oral English.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, especially in facilitating workshops.
