Conservation Managing Director Job Responsibilities
Perform the duties of secretary to the board
Provide leadership of the Authority in order to build a competent, efficient and motivated workforce.
To direct and control the Authority’s operations and give strategic guidance and direction to the board to ensure that the Authority achieves its mission and objectives
Prepare authority’s annual work plans and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the Authority attains its objectives as cost effectively and efficiently as possible
Provide strategic advice and guidance to the chairman and the members of the board, to keep them aware of developments within the Authority and ensure that the appropriate policies are developed to meet the
Authority’s mission and objectives and to comply with Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Act, 2015.
Establish and maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders and partners, including building their capacities to bolster sand and environment conservation activities.
Coordinate the various sand management activities to ensure effective resource conservation and rational utilization for sustainable yields and improved quality human life in the County.
Mobilize and monitor the use of finance and human resources for sand conservation and utilization Authority.
Provide technical assistance to the sub county and ward sand management committees, WRUAs and when necessary to ensure effective management of sand utilization and conservation of sites.
Ensure rehabilitation of the sand harvested sites and other environmental damages associated with harvesting and transportation of sand within the County
Carry out licensing and registration of all persons who wish to engage in any sand utilization activities and maintaining such registers as may be necessary.
Continuously support authority’s operations and administration of Board by advising and informing board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board’s performance evaluation.
Requirements for the Conservation Managing Director Job
Be a Kenyan citizen.
A Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management/Environmental Studies, Community Development,
Project Management, Water Management or its equivalent and other related areas.
Progressive responsibility and with demonstrated supervisory experience in staff, budget and office management.
At least 7 years working experience, of which 4 years must be in the management of projects in Natural Resource Management or a related field
Experience in Results-based project cycle management including monitoring and evaluation methodologies and program budget management;
Experience in participatory and community based development or Natural Resource management approaches.
Demonstrated experience in resource mobilization and partnership development.
Ability to interact effectively with different cadres of people and leadership.
Good organizational, research, negotiation, analytical capabilities and problem solving skills.
Ability to identify, obtain and analyze information from variety of sources and make informed decisions.
Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Basic numeracy and IT skills required for operating various systems.
Ability to interpret, analyze, and explain the official framework employment regulation.
Good negotiating and influencing skills in implementing Human Resource Management policies.
Able to work alone with minimal supervision.
Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
