PATH is currently looking for a Communications Officer to work with Beyond Zero secretariat to help develop, improve, and expand Beyond Zero’s positive impact in Kenya. This position reports to the Beyond Zero Coordinator. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
Key Duties and responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain online outreach and produce information materials for public outreach (45%):
Oversee and manage content of Beyond Zero social media platforms including website.
Lead in the preparation of technical briefs, annual technical reports, human interest or case stories, photos, press releases, newspaper articles and e-bulletin/newsletters.
Assist with writing of speeches for the Office of the First Lady including the Secretariat.
Build communications partnerships and media alliances (45%):
Identify and develop new communications partnerships and media alliances to enhance the visibility and cement Beyond Zero as a high level advocacy platform
Identify innovative opportunities and new communications tools and platforms which can serve to highlight the work of Beyond Zero.
Supporting information and communications needs (10%)
Support in the design and development of project proposals
Support in the development of technical information between Beyond Zero, Beyond Zero Trustees and the NACC board
Requirement
The preferred candidate should have a Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science Communications, Public Relations, Media studies, Journalism or their equivalent from a recognized University.
At least 2 years demonstrated technical experience having worked in a similar position, preferably in an International NGO or private sector.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex issues in a concise, compelling, and easily understandable manner, including the ability to analyze and draft policy
Demonstrated experience and skill in photography, videography and social media management
Excellent written and oral communication skills, in positions requiring diplomacy in communicating with broad and diverse audiences.
Experience in researching and producing communication and advocacy materials, and using evaluation results to inform strategy design.
Well-developed research, interview, and analysis skills.
MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint or comparable software. Administratively self-sufficient.
Highly flexible, excellent at working closely with others over geographical distance.
Demonstrated experience working in multi-cultural settings.
Knowledge of a second language is a an added advantage
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
