About the learning programme
In order to provide world-class service delivery projects in the field of Inclusive Eye Health and Community Based Inclusive Development, we want to equip approximately 100 Programme Officers and Programme Managers, based in Regional and Country Offices in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with the skills, mindsets and behaviours that are required for excellent project management.
A Programme Management Pathway has been developed and 4 core modules defined: Project Finance, Project Management, Self-Leadership, and Communication and Networking.
Each participant is expected to take all four modules by the end of 2023, and two modules per year.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a trainer who can help us with design and delivery of the module “Communication and Networking” for approximately 20 Programme Officers/Managers in East and Southern Africa. Any trainer-led sessions will be held in the office in Nairobi.
About the module
This module has an emphasis on interpersonal, negotiation, persuasion and listening skills, as well as conflict management. On the one hand, these skills relate to internal ways of working, i.e., how a programme manager/officer relates to peers and superiors from their own office or other departments and offices. On the other hand, skills are required to build and maintain appropriate relationships with the staff of our implementing partners at various levels, i.e. from Field Worker to Director.
For this module we expect a maximum learning time of 25 hours. This includes any live sessions, self-directed learning and peer learning. The Communication and Networking module can start any time from April 2022 onwards.
The measures of success for this module are:
Issues, opportunities and progress are communicated regularly and to the right stakeholders
Complex issues are communicated simply, be it in writing or verbally and in the right cultural contexts
Conflict is managed well by facing issues with the right stakeholders at the right time
Improved networking skills leading to stronger collaboration with key stakeholders (partners, CBM staff, other INGOs/ institutional delegations)
Authority levels and cultural diversity are understood and appreciated in the approach to work and communication
Specific learning objectives are still being defined.
