Position summary:
The job holder will be responsible for undertaking health research and conducting clinical trials and ensuring patients care and safety during research.
The individual hired will work under the Supervision of the Deputy Director of Clinical Operations and receive the mentorship of the Principal Investigators conducting trials at the Kombewa CRC. The individual hired should have a degree in medicine and surgery or equivalent from a recognized institution and interest in infectious diseases and clinical research. The will be trained in the conduct of clinical trials and need superior organizational/administrative skills, attention to detail, clinical acumen, and a good grounding in bio-ethical principles.
Job Specification
Implementing pre-clinical and clinical research projects and/or supervise designated aspects of the work;
General diagnosis, care, treatment and provision of specialized clinical care for study participants;
Assist in carrying out fieldwork and pre-clinical and clinical experimental procedures;
Carry out experimental and/or developmental work;
Contributing to interpretation and validation of results
Conduct community diagnosis, care and treatment during Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) activities;
Assist in organization of the internal scientific seminars;
Guiding visiting scientific students /students on attachment
Maintaining the scientific pre-clinical and clinical facility
Minimum job requirements and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Medicine and surgery, Dentistry, Veterinary, Pharmacy or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
Professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body,
Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks
Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
Proficiency in computer application;
Evidence of having satisfied the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of
Kenya 2010 by providing the following:
KRA Certificate of Tax compliance
Certificate from Credit Reference Bureau.
Police Clearance Certificate.
Clearance from the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission.
Certificate of clearance from HELB.
Terms of Employment:
One (1) year renewable contract. Probation period for the first three (3) months
Remuneration: The salary is based on KEMRI salary scale.
