Reporting to the Charge Nurse, the successful candidate will evaluate, create and incorporate both non-clinical and clinical programs that improve nursing practices for patients’ safety and well-being in line with the Hospital’s patient care objectives.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement curriculum for continuous nursing education and acting as a source of information for the nursing team as well as assessing set goals for improving knowledge & skills;
Coordinate and implement set learning outcomes to ensure continuous improvement for better patient outcomes;
Demonstrate, impart skills and apply the theories of teaching and learning in the daily guidance of nurses and students in the clinical areas;
Incorporate evidence-based research into educational plans, patient treatment plans, and nursing practices;
Utilize appropriate teaching techniques while conducting instruction to patients, nurses and student nurses;
Serve as a mentor to nurses, identify skills gaps and growth opportunities for practicing nurses;
Promote critical thinking among nurses, and show commitment to professional development and lifelong learning;
Maintain current knowledge of trends in area of expertise, evaluating and application of research to continuously improve clinical practice;
Direct clinical practice including executing nursing care and assessing results;
Perform advanced evaluations and providing guidance for testing new procedures;
Continually investigate methods for improving patient care;
Serve as role model, providing clinical and professional leadership
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be an added advantage.
Must possess valid basic life support (BLS) certification
Must be a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a current valid practicing licence.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting.

Must possess skills in training and assessing in the clinical areas.
Sufficient skills in collecting relevant information on the practical skill needs of nurses.
Have a passion for lifelong learning and development
Sufficient knowledge of professional nursing standards, concepts, policies, and practices with regards to the group of patients served
Outstanding skills in designing care programs relating to individual patients’ needs
Teaching skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills
