Role objective:
To oversee and manage all the Level 2 Field Hospital cleaning services (including laundry).
Expected output:
The Cleaning Supervisor (Medical) will ensure that all medical cleaning services adhere to the most stringent legislative standards of cleaning and hygiene in the field hospital environment.
He/she will ensure that the Team Leaders of Cleaning Services (medical) and Laundry Services (medical) are conducting safe and compliant operations in their respective areas.
He/she will maintain accurate records and produce reports on operations in conjunctions with the other department Team Leaders.
Project reporting:
This role reports to the Supervisor.
Team management:
This role does not have team management responsibility.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in training in best practice cleaning methods in a hospital setting to United Kingdom NHS Standards or equivalent..
Work experience:
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable relevant Administration experience.
Geographical experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Africa with local experience in Bentiu is an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is essential.
Key competencies:
Education:
Higher education highly desirable – ideally with training in best practice cleaning methods in a hospital setting to United Kingdom NHS Standards or equivalent.
Work Experience:
5 years’ experience in a similar role with experience of working in a field hospital setting to United Kingdom NHS standards or equivalent would be desirable.
Management and supervisory experience in a similar environment.
Knowledge of the legislative requirements surrounding medical support services.
Experience in producing reports.
IT literate.
Has previous experience in the steps necessary in the disposal of medical waste.
Has a full understanding of managing fridge temperatures for medications and other medical suppliers.
Is familiar with the set standards and training plans for hygiene control that meets with UK NHS standards or equivalent.
Fully conversant with setting appropriate rosters for cleaning cycles.
Can implement (for example) simple color-coding for the use of cleaning equipment patient-side and non-patient side.
Key Competencies:
Ideally fluent in written and spoken English.
Pays keen attention to detail.
Accurate record keeping and time management.
Can demonstrate an understanding of managing protective equipment for handling toxic cleaning equipment and can train others in the proper usage of protective equipment.
Can demonstrate a clear understanding of health and safety requirements to mitigate workplace accidents.
