About the Role

We are looking for a leader, an advocate of the employee, and a creator of invigorating and equitable environments for Alight’s dynamic and diverse team of over 2,500 professionals in 17 countries. As the Chief People Officer, you will supervise an international team of human resource professionals supporting Alight’s global operations and the operations of a growing number of partner and affiliated organizations. Simply put, your purpose will foster an atmosphere for employees—including incentive workers and volunteers— that unleashes their generosity, creativity, and abundance by ensuring each person is truly seen, cared for, supported, and inspired.
The CPO reports to the CEO and is part of the Alight Executive Team.

Scope of Work
Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight and we’re looking for someone who brings the following:

You understand that people are our most important asset and you are the organizational focal point of employee support, safety, well-being, and growth.
You can manage complexity – serving the HR needs of Alight and several affiliated organizations, oftentimes working alongside the global HR teams to provide guidance and ensure unity among initiatives.
You strategically evaluate and improve Alight’s existing HR practices and policies, ensuring Alight is both marketplace-competitive and a joyful place to work.
You believe the values of Alight must be embraced by every member of our global staff.

Key Responsibilities
Safe, Fair & Engaged Workforce

Evaluate and maintain positive relationships and working conditions that balance employer and employee needs in alignment with Alight’s values.
Oversee staff safety and health, including evaluating and implementing staff care assistance in stressful environments and support in addressing critical incidents involving staff.
Monitor and investigate claims of employee misconduct and employee grievances, such as sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), fraud, abuse of authority, and code of conduct violations, etc. Make recommendations and oversee the resolution of the investigation.
Coordinate employee engagement and relations: through developing and implementing tools and approaches such as employee engagement surveys, exit interviews, check-in calls, trust-building, recognition, communications, and other activities, across all units and functions
Write, deliver, and facilitate internal communications to help with change management and consistent messaging across the organization.
Keep your finger on the pulse of the organization, supporting employees through hardship, and influencing managers to enact changes that preserve what’s unique about our culture while helping us evolve to support the needs of our people.

Diversity, Equity, and Belonging (DEB)

Lead the Alight global Belonging Initiative, fostering organizational diversity, equity, and belonging practices, actions, and culture
Guide in increasing dialogues on, understanding, and addressing racial, gender, ethnic, and other forms of discrimination within and across all agency business and people processes and systems
Support in design and implementation of regular employee experience and engagement surveys; track and spotlight DEB issues needing address
Design and offer opportunities for teaming & bonding, inclusion and decision making, also mentor and coaching programs
Ensure accountability and data-driven results to drive organization-wide DEI initiatives and develop mechanisms to regularly report on our progress to the team and the board.
Remain current in best DEB practices and make recommendations for improvement/revisions to existing processes, practices, and procedures.

Talent Management

Advise best practices related to talent acquisition. Serve as a strategic thought partner to ensure recruiting goals are aligned with organizational objectives.
Advise on and deploy talent development and retention strategies.
Advise on the design and ongoing execution of L&D practices, including the development of internal Alight training programs.
Develop and implement an annual performance review system in service of staff growth and development.
Oversee the performance management, competence, and skill development targeted at increased job performance, satisfaction, retention, and efficacies; and ensure that the Talent Team is equipped to carry out equitable and informed decision-making.
Ensure orientation and re-orientation to organizational culture, values, and policies.

Employee Relations

Provide clear guidance and perspective on how to manage employee relations; coach others on the Talent Team and Leadership Team to address and resolve employee issues promptly, effectively, and objectively while staying aligned with organizational policy and culture.
Consult with the legal counsel as required to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance in the day-to-day management of employees

HR Operations & Compliance

Lead the development, measurement, and evaluation of proactive workplace policies, practices, and standards that ensure readiness for continual organizational growth.
Oversee fair and equitable employee recognition, benefits, and compensation
Oversee organizational HR, Labor, and Legal compliance
Manage the work authorization process (both domestically and internationally), to ensure all employees have the authorization to work in assigned office location
Oversee corporate insurance, such as medical evacuation, crime, fraud, D&O.
Serve as a support and advisor to Alight Executive as well as Country leadership
Guide and support Alight’s affiliated organizations with talent and HR related challenges

Organizational Leadership & Development

Lead a team of 10 Global HR & Talent staff based in various locations worldwide, including 4 direct reports.
Coordinate and energize HR leads across all country teams to learn from one another and work together effectively.
Create a respectful and trusting relationship between leaders, supervisors, and staff complement.
Contribute to Alight vision and strategy, and provide People, Culture, & DEB guidance with an expressed focus on how initiatives will reflect the values of Alight
Model, manage, and lead efforts to strengthen and reinforce the values and culture of the organization to facilitate future growth.
Coordinate workforce planning, employee performance, progression, and transition management.
Serve as an organizational advisor to the executive and country teams of Alight and affiliated organizations.
Serve as the HR focal point for the acquisition of new subsidiary organizations
Create and provide required global, executive, and governance reports and documentation
