The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s investment portfolio to ensure optimal returns and alignment with the company’s risk management strategies. The CIO will develop and implement investment policies, strategies, and plans to maximize returns on investments while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the company’s overall objectives.
Responsibilities and accountabilities –
Investment Strategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive investment strategies and policies to achieve the company’s financial objectives.
Evaluate and manage investment opportunities, risks, and returns.
Monitor global financial markets and economic trends to inform investment decisions.
Portfolio Management:
Oversee the management of the company’s investment portfolio, ensuring diversification and risk management.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of investment portfolios, making adjustments as necessary to achieve optimal returns.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate investment risks through effective risk management strategies.
Ensure the company’s investment activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence on potential investment opportunities.
Prepare and present detailed investment reports and performance analysis to the executive team and board of directors.
Provide insights and recommendations based on investment performance and market conditions.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor the investment team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the investment team.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with other departments, including finance, risk management, and legal, to ensure alignment of investment strategies with the company’s overall goals.
Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including investment managers, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Minimum requirements –
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Qualified CFA and Professional qualification in investments or relevant certifications.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in investment management, with at least 8 years in a leadership position.
