About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in developing and implementing the national strategy for Ten Senses. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will assist with financial planning and economic modelling and will act as an advisor to the Managing Director. S/he will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in collaboration with the board of directors and the finance, audit, and investment committees of the board.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide critical financial and operational information to the Managing Director
Work with Management and the Board of Directors in establishing yearly objectives and annual meetings, including decisions for engaging outside consultants for annual audits
Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan
Participate with senior management in developing financial organizational strategies
Evaluate production productivity and quality in order to resolve problems and implement change
Identify acquisition and expansion prospects
Forecast capital, facility and staff requirements
Oversee compliance for Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements and Office of Management and Budget audit requirements
Establish specialized financial IT systems in line with the organization’s needs
Manage and develop cash flow, forecasting and projections that meet operational needs
Oversee the organizations’ budgeting implementation and progress
Monitor and manage the organization’s endowment and financial performance
Identify investment opportunities and manage relationships with the investment & grant community
Remain current with regulatory changes and participation with professional financial organizations
Build, mentor and train an effective and dynamic team
Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of the direct span of control
Desired Candidate Profile
Does this sound like you?
A minimum of a BS; MBA preferred; CPA/ ACCA or equivalent is important
You have at least 5-10 years of broad finance experience (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting)
You have a background in agriculture, exports or manufacturing
You are great at gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership
You are a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
You are mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the MD of a multi-divisional organization
You have strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
You have a deep understanding of and experience with Office of Management and Budget audits
You have experience successfully partnering with IT staff to manage critical financial management systems
You are an effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information
You have a collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality
You are creative, with experience funding activities in ways that both cover costs and generate operating margins
