​​​​Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Chief Executive Officer at CIArb Kenya Branch. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing the finance, operations management, business planning, sales, and strategic planning of the institute on a day-to-day basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position holder will be expected to; –
Running the day-to-day business of the Branch
Developing and implementing the Branch strategy, business plans, and operating annual budgets,
Establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures.
Preparing business-related proposals, reports, and other submissions for consideration by the Branch Committee.
Ensuring that there is effective communication between the Institute and the Branch Committee, the Branch and its membership, as well as between different levels of management.
Providing visionary leadership and direction to the Branch and to ensure that all mandates are met in line with the Branch’s strategic plan.
Attending to human capital matters including organizational structures, appointments, welfare, training, industrial relations, separation, and effective management succession plans.
Ensuring continuous improvements in the quality and value of services and products provided by the Branch.
Ensuring continuous achievement of the Branch’s financial goals, operating goals and objectives.
Overseeing and ensuring implementation of corporate policies and programmes.
Maintaining a conducive, work environment for attracting, retaining, and motivating employees.
Fostering a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.
Acting as spokesperson for the Branch. Ensuring compliance with the laws of the country.
Oversee and manage staff and secretariat of the Branch
Any other relevant and lawful responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chairperson and as necessary to achieve the Branch’s objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

A master’s degree in relevant fields such as law, political science, development studies, human rights, communication, management, other fields related to the job.
Be a Member (MCIArb), Fellow (FCIArb) or a Chartered Arbitrator (C. Arb).
Having at least 12 years’ work experience, 5 must be in a leadership position.
Experience in strategic planning and execution at a senior level.
Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
Knowledge of communication and public relations principles and practices include the ability to represent the organization effectively.
Excellent ability in formal written and verbal communication. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
