Organizational context

The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Executive Committee (EC) for providing effective and efficient management for the realization of the vision and mission of the Association.

Purpose of the Job

To lead the operations and development of the Water and Sanitation Providers Association (WASPA) and to establish effective relationships with WASPA members, the Executive Committee, WASPA Sub-committees, WASPA staff, development partners, relevant government authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the achievement of the Association’s objectives.

Terms of Service
Contractual, renewable based on performance.
Duties and Responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of the
Drive the process of strategy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
Head of the Secretariat and ensure its effective and efficient operation
Accounting officer of the Association
Leads the process of developing an annual budget for approval by the Executive Committee
Ensuring compliance with the Policy and procedures of the Association
Ensure implementation of the decisions and resolutions of the Executive Committee and AGM
Ensuring sound management of the assets and resources of the
Ensuring compliance with the requirements of all donors and or partners as shall be agreed by the Executive Committee.
Ensuring the Association complies with all legal
Ensuring full support of the sub-committees and any other organs of the Association by the Secretariat
Develops and present relevant reports as required to the partners and Executive Committee
Maintain good relationships with stakeholders, members, employees, government authorities, and development partners through effective communications
Representing the Association at relevant fora and articulate the views and position of the Association
Ensuring the self-sustainability of the Association
Any other duties as shall be assigned by the Executive

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University
Post Graduate Qualification will be an added advantage

Essential Requirements

At least 10 years of relevant work experience, 5 of which should be senior management in the Water Sector
A member of a recognized Professional Body and in good standing
Good grasp of water and sanitation issues and their articulation in the global, regional, and local frameworks
Ability to lead, direct, and motivate staff together toward common
Experience in resource mobilization and working with different donors and development partners
Experience in corporate governance especially working with Boards and Board Committees
Proven strong communication skills both written and oral
Experience in policy and policy-making processes at a local (county) and National level
Experience in advocacy and lobbying
The Successful candidate to provide evidence that they meet Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
