Chief Accountant

Main Responsibilities of Job 

Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization;
Analyze any changes in products provided in order to determine what effect it 
has on the cost and make estimates of new and proposed product costs;
Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs;
Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services;
Coordinate preparation of accurate and up-to-date financial and management 
accounting information to facilitate decision making;
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial progress reports for the 
department and forward for approval, to ensure informed decisions are made within the Company promptly;
Ensure financial issues and inquiries are addressed from internal and external 
customers to ensure satisfactory services;
Ensure internal checks are carried out to ensure effective and efficient accounting practices;
Ensure application of sound principles, systems, and techniques in accounting for effective and efficient use of finances and assets;
Participate in the preparation of reports regarding internal and external audits 
to ensure accurate information on annual statements is correctly projected;
Validation and verification of payments for accuracy and accountability; 
Coordinate the budget preparation process of the company and prepare the related special revisions promptly;
Develop, implement and monitor effective systems of monitoring performance 
against budget including key financial performance indicators;
Ensure timely monthly reconciliation of budget adjustments to the agreed expenditure plan;
Analyze and report significant budget variances and identify possible remedial 
actions in consultation with divisional accountants;

Key Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Business Administration with 
Finance Option) or any other Business-related Degree from a recognized university;
Must have a minimum of eight (8) years experience, five of which (5) should be in a management role;
Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) or ACCA;
Must be strong in Cost Accounting and Reporting;
Must have a good understanding of the Constitution, Public Finance 
Management Act, and related legislation, financial reporting accounting standards;
Must have worked in the manufacturing sector;
Must have impeccable planning and budgeting skills;
Must be familiar with the major Investments trends for similar industries; and
Must have leadership and supervisory skills.
