Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager. Cargo Standards, Procedures and Quality Control, the ideal candidate will be required to support implementation of the Quality Control programme to ensure delivery of operational effectiveness in Cargo Handling Services by monitoring and evaluating work processes to ensure conformance and compliance.
Principle Accountabilities:
Policies and Procedures:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, processes, procedures, organization standards, local & International regulations are achieved so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
Promote and maintain a positive safety culture, secure and cost-effective operations for Kenya Airways Cargo Network and ensure compliance with the relevant industry/legislative requirements and company procedures to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and accident.
Documentation & Procedures Development:
Ensure Cargo Handling Documentation is implemented as documented in line with policies and procedures both at the hub and Outstations.
Compile reports for operational managers either manually or using the available systems following the conduct of internal audits/spot checks.
Review and compile documentation before and after internal audits.
Quality Control & Compliance Monitoring:
Implement the Quality Control programme at the Hub and Outstations to ensure consistent compliance with regulatory requirements and conformity with company policy and industry.
Facilitate periodic internal audits/spot checks at the Hub and Outstations to ensure consistent compliance with regulatory requirements, company policy, procedures and processes.
Evaluate training needs and delivery to ensure that relevant skills are imparted for various roles in order to satisfy the business needs.
Conduct periodic/scheduled process tests and assessments to identify non-conformity
Support process improvement by recommending quality control practices in accordance with relevant industry practices.
Notify management about observed areas of non-compliance and regulatory issues including suggested mitigating actions.
Monitor the implementation of all approved corrective action plans and evaluate the level of compliance.
Facilitate gap analysis sessions to ensure we achieve re-certification of IOSA AND ISAGO
Monitor Pharmaceutical product to ensure compliance.
Use CiQ to analyse performance for improvement.
Promote KQ WAY principals and best practices.
Cost Control:
Manage and control QC budget and all related costs.
External Relations and Stakeholder Engagement:
Coordinate and maintain relationships with the Hub and Outstations to ensure ease of communication, information sourcing, achievement of timely responses to Quality Control queries.
Knowledge, Skills and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the airline industry 3 of which must be in cargo handling.
Thorough working knowledge of Cargo Operations.
Good numerical skills and an understanding of statistics.
Superior team leadership, team working and co-operation skills with the ability to influence positively and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communications skills as well as excellent supervisory and problem solving skills.
Ability to handle pressure and difficult situations with resilience, calmly and effectively.
Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
