The role
As a farmer collaborating with Healthier Hens you would need to:

Share information about your farms via phone calls or in-person visits;
Share feed samples from your farm via our Sample Collection Protocol;
Allow accompanying certified vets to perform on-farm welfare indicator assessments.

How will your work have an impact?

Your work will improve the quality of Healthier Hens’ efforts, increase the feasibility of Healthier Hens pilot program and early field work;
Healthier Hens has the potential to achieve unprecedented impact via a cost-effective intervention focused on feed fortification and you are able to make that possible;

What we are looking for

Deep litter system
At least 500 hens
Accommodate 1 farm visit a month (in December, January and February). During each visit, a certain number of hens will be examined non-invasively, for example via feather examination, bone palpation, visual foot health inspection.
Allow feed samples of commercial feeds to be collected for quality analysis.

What we offer

Ksh 1225 per visit
Feed quality analysis at accredited laboratories for their content of key nutrients (calcium, phosphorous, vitamin D3 and protein).
Veterinarians to help farmers troubleshoot on farm issues via sharing resources and knowledge on good management practices, welfare assurance, biosecurity, bookkeeping, and barn maintenance.
