Business Development Officer (Economy, Finance and Banking)

Job Summary: 

The Business Development Officer (Economy, Finance and Banking) is responsible for driving business growth and revenue generation within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. The Business Development Officer (Economy, Finance and Banking) will identify new opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to promote the Indepth Research Institute (IRES) products and services. This role requires a strong sales background and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by Banks, Insurance, SACCOs and other Finance institutions.

Key Responsibilities: 
Market Research: 

Conduct thorough research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the Economy, Finance, and Banking sectors. Stay updated on industry developments, competitor activities, and market dynamics specific to this sector. 

Sales Strategy: 

Develop and implement effective sales strategies and tactics to achieve revenue targets and business objectives within the sector. 

Client Relationship Management: 

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients within the sector. Understand their needs, challenges, and goals, and customize solutions to meet their specific requirements. 

Proposal Development: 

Prepare and present compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to clients, showcasing the organization’s products and services.

Partnership Development: 

Identify and forge strategic partnerships with Economy, Finance and Banking institutions and other stakeholders to expand the organization’s reach and impact within the sector.

Sales Collateral Development: 

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop sales collateral, marketing materials, and promotional campaigns. Ensure alignment with sector-specific messaging and branding. 

Market Expansion: 

Explore opportunities for market expansion and penetration within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector, including new geographic regions, customer segments, or product/service offerings.

Customer Feedback: 

Gather feedback from clients and stakeholders within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector to understand their satisfaction levels, preferences, and areas for improvement
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Cooperative management or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or relevant professional certifications are preferred. 
Sales Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven success in sales roles, preferably in an organization serving Banks, Insurance, SACCOs, or other financial institutions. Demonstrated experience in business development, consultative selling, and strategic account management is essential. 
Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of the operations, priorities, and challenges within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. 
Sales Skills: Proficiency in sales principles, techniques, and methodologies, with a focus on consultative selling, relationship building, and solution-oriented sales strategies tailored to the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. 
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including clients, donors, partners, and internal teams within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. 
Strategic Thinking: Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and develop targeted sales strategies to achieve business objectives within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. 
Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics), sales analytics tools, and other technology platforms used for sales and business development activities.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, operations, and program management, to achieve common goals and deliver exceptional customer value to the Economy, Finance and Banking sector
Cultural Sensitivity: Cultural awareness and sensitivity to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds and regions within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector. 
Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards and integrity in all business dealings, adhering to organizational policies and regulations, and promoting transparency and accountability within the Economy, Finance and Banking sector.
