Business Development Manager, East Africa

Funtion of department

To provide training and other capacity development services to clients on a commercial basis
Contribute to the success of CA by delivering profitable business results and building CA’s reputation as ‘go to’ provider for training and development

Main job purpose

Generating revenue growth in the assigned countries (1. Kenya; 2. Uganda)
This role will be based in the Nairobi office and require regular travel to Uganda and potentially other countries in East Africa region
Building and nurturing existing and new client relationships
Developing client base in new sectors
Managing the work of agents in further countries where required

Main Responsibilities
Manage

Where appropriate, manage TPD agents in other countries to ensure quality of sales messaging and revenue performance
The role may extend to management of sales or sales admin staff in time
Ensure compliance with local legislation and that all the other regulatory and fiduciary requirements are met in the pursuit of duties

Win

Promote the full range of TPD services and capabilities to existing and prospective clients, conducting research into new sectors as needed
Establish and develop high level relationships with client and partner organisations
Meet or exceed individual revenue targets for each country within remit,
Convert leads generated by direct marketing campaigns, product intelligence and other sources into tangible course bookings
Adhere to minimum levels of daily and weekly sales activity targets (including outbound phone calls, client visits etc.)
Support technical / commercial input into proposals, bids and tenders

Deliver

Provide intelligence on buying patterns, political and economic situation, client needs and competition as needed
Assist with business trips made to region by TPD management team and other Crown Agents staff

Build

Work with the Lead – Business Development to establish a short, medium and long-term revenue growth plan for assigned groups of countries.
Contribute to Crown Agents business growth outside TPD where possible and where required

Qualification

Undergraduate Degree or experienced gained in roles
Proven track record in sales, client relationship management, preferably from a commercial training sales or international development/consultancy background
Some understanding of the structure and vehicles for public and government services in Kenya

Experience

Ideally, minimum of three years’ experience in business development or sales
Experience of regional business travel preferred
