Purpose of communications support
ACHAP seeks to ensure increased FBO voices in the global health arena, including increased visibility and participation of its members globally through supporting strategic advocacy and communication with CHAs as well as increased advocacy& communications capacity of members
In this role therefore the communications officer with the support ACHAP through :

Regular updates to members on health matters in Africa through proactive sharing of information and resources made available to the secretariat
Updating and maintaining the ACHAP website
Proactively pursue compelling stories, best practices, success stories and lessons learnt from ACHAP member organizations and institutions
Applying appropriate and strategic communication channels to raise the profile and visibility of ACHAP eg social media
Regularly review and update key informational and promotional ACHAP materials
Prepare and regularly share a quarterly ACHAP publication
Provide translation and transcription services to the Secretariat to ensure sharing and dissemination of key documents in both English and French
Ensure professional documentation and quality communication materials are developed and approved for dissemination

Key Competencies

A Degree in Communications, Media or International Relations, with at least 5 years’ experience
Excellent command of written and spoken English and French. Native French speakers are encouraged to apply
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with ability to convey technical arguments in clear and vivid prose
Knowledge of sub Saharan Africa public health issues
Technical skills in web design and management as well as publications production and design
