Job Purpose:
The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for the management of daily warehouse operations with a key goal to ensure customer and stakeholder satisfaction. The role is pivotal in the daily resource scheduling, work-planning, ensuring OSH compliance on site, overseeing the operations of intake, dispatch, cycle counts and follow-through on stock reconciliation operations.

Responsibilities
Resource Scheduling
Responsible for preparation of the daily 24-hour work plan covering both shifts and cascading the same to the respective shift leads. The plan reviews the requirements for the day e.g. labour against the expected throughput.
Responsible for drafting and updating the weekly shift schedule for the shift leads and inventory clerks and uploading it onto the set platform on time to ensure all stakeholders have the information on who is in the respective warehouses.
OSH Compliance
Responsible for reviewing of the daily PPE Issuance report to determine any shortages and escalating for procurement.
Conducting periodic OSH audits across the warehouse to identify and close out any gaps.
Conducting refresher OSH sensitization sessions with the warehouse staff to ensure all are on the same page regarding creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
Warehouse Cadence Adherence
Responsible for developing, alongside the Warehouse Manager, the shift start cadence for both shifts; day and night.
Responsible for cascading the set warehouse shift start cadence to all the shift leads, inventory clerks and casuals.
Responsible for auditing the effectiveness of the 2 shift start cadences, identifying and closing gaps in the process.
Inventory Operations
Receiving and Dispatch of inventory at the warehouse.
Conduct periodic audits of the offloading and dispatch of stock at the warehouse validating that the quantities reported by the clerks and shift leads are accurate and more over that customers receive their orders on time and in full.
Stock Accounting
Conduct daily cycle counts of a specific number of SKUs to juxtapose the system number against the physical count.
Variance Reconciliation – Daily review of any variances noted with the objective of tracing back to either an intake team or a dispatch team for accountability.
Inventory Report Audit – Review the warehouse Inventory report to ensure it is filled accurately and on time by the warehousing associates.
Budget Management
Providing inputs for the Warehouse budget during the monthly/quarterly review process with the Warehouse Manager.
Validate the daily casual payments done tallies with the labour plan of the day, ensuring all casuals get paid on time for work done.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement or any other relatable field
5 -7 years of progressive experience in a similar role
Experience in managing large teams.
Experience in setting up high-performance teams and systems.
Experience in warehouse and inventory management, experience with WMS/ERP systems an added bonus.
